Carol's Daughter debuts a new ad-campaign!

Carols Daughter (one of our all-time favorite beauty brands!) has a new Polyethnic  ad-campaign for their latest product “Monoi Repairing Collection”.

The new campaign which is in today’s issue of WWD- Women’s Wear Daily features a brand new line-up of diverse spokesmodels (Solange, Cassie and Selita Ebanks) who were all chosen to represent multi-ethnic hair textures and natural Black beauty whether it be Straight or kinky hair.

Solange - her natural hair represents the African-American women who are more organic.

Cassie - her spunky side shaved hair appeals to the younger crowd.

Selita Banks - with her straight hair appeals to professional mature woman.

So what makes these spokesmodels Polyethnic?

Carol’s Daughter Chairman and entertainment industry mogul, Steve Stoute, was quoted in Women’s Wear Daily stating: "Each woman was chosen for the campaign based off of their ethnically diverse background. (Cassie is African-American and Filipina; Selita is Jamaican, Irish, Indian and African-American; and Solange is African-American and French Creole.)

Stoute explained. "What we’re doing now is moving into a polyethnic space. When I say polyethnic, I mean women who are made up of several ethnicities. If you ask them what they are, they’re going to use a lot of different words to describe themselves. That’s in line with the Census data coming out — people are checking much more than two boxes."

Although these 3 beautiful women definitely exemplify the definition of polyethnic! The ad shows beautiful black women with easily manageable hair, they don’t show the real coarse, kinky, nappy hair that most of the population has - such as Janelle Monae or even India Arie.

Also I wish that the models were positioned a little further apart so that Solange did not look like she was in the background as opposed to being featured with the others. (Just looking out for my girl Solange -wink!)

The new ads will debut in June 2011 while products from the Monoi Repairing Collection will hit shelves next month so Congrats to Lisa Price for extending her brand and for putting black hair in the spotlight, again!

Do you think Selita Ebanks, Cassie and Solange captured the concept polyethnicity that Stoute speaks of? Do you consider yourself Polyethnic? Let’s talk about it below in the comments section.
