Carols Daughter (one of our all-time favorite beauty brands!) has a new Polyethnic  ad-campaign for their latest product “Monoi Repairing Collection”.

The new campaign which is in today’s issue of WWD- Women’s Wear Daily features a brand new line-up of diverse spokesmodels (Solange, Cassie and Selita Ebanks) who were all chosen to represent multi-ethnic hair textures and natural Black beauty whether it be Straight or kinky hair.

I Tried It: New Optimum Relaxer

I TRIED IT! Soft Sheen Carson’s Optimum Advanced Keratin Whipped Crème Relaxer

So, I had the opportunity to try Soft Sheen Carson’s Optimum Advanced Keratin Whipped Crème relaxer. And in three words "I Love It!" What I like about this product is how my hair feels. My hair feels light, bouncy and its not super straight. Personally, I don't like my hair too straight. I like when it has some fullness and bounce to it.

My hair was done by the Hair Maestro himself Mr. Eric Bland, who has worked with Selita Ebanks, Tyra Banks, Vanessa Williams and Michelle Williams (from Destiny's Child) to name a few...

"The relaxer acts like a GPS it goes where it needs to go [to straighten the hair,]" Eric says. And it is true the relaxer has absolutely no smell, that was a nice surprise.

Another thing I noticed about my hair is that it had a nice shine to it. It could be because Eric spritz my hair with Optimum's High Gloss Shine Spray which includes Argan and Coconut oils, that are very moisturizing and good for the hair. Also, my hair was done on a rainy day and my hair still looked fabulous after being out in the rain for a few hours. The gloss supposedly fights against humidity.

Well, if I did have to think of one minus, it would be the smell of the product. I'm not a big fragrant lover so the Neutralizing Shampoo and the High Gloss Shine Spray both had very distinct smells to them, which I didn't like. However, I would say within 24 hours the smell was less noticeable.

The relaxer will not be available in salons until May 1st.
